The Daikin McQuay Rebel is the first official submission to a rooftop unit challenge facilitated by the Department of Energy to develop the next generation of high-efficiency air conditioners for commercial buildings. The performance features outlined by the challenge are aimed at reducing energy use by as much as 50 to 60 percent over current equipment.

«We are the largest global HVAC manufacturer as a member of Daikin and we intend to be clearly number one in the Americas as well,» said Don Winter, vice president of marketing at McQuay International. «With these new technology platforms, we wanted to send a message that we are committed to excellence. This includes providing customers with industry-leading technologies to increase building comfort and energy efficiencies while reducing their overall cost of ownership.»

Winter went on to state that the new technology platforms also continue the company’s tradition of sustainability. In addition to Rebel, other products incorporating the technology platforms are the new Daikin McQuay SmartSource™ line of water source heat pumps that also uses inverter technology. The Inverter water source heat pump is the industry’s first variable-speed inverter compressor. The technology, recognized as the way of the future, boasts energy efficiency ratings unreachable by other existing technologies. The Daikin McQuay Vision™ *Plus* air handler, on the other hand, has the ability to attain a maximum of Class 6 leakage up to +/-8’’ of internal static pressure per ASHRAE’s 111 Standard, well under the industry quality standard for one percent.

The new Daikin McQuay technologies will continue to be expanded upon said Winter as the company continues to push the boundaries and challenge the status quo.
