Three painted Copeland Scroll™ compressors have emerged as the industry favorites in global online voting sponsored by Emerson Climate Technologies, a business segment of Emerson.
Painted compressors from manufacturing facilities in Lebanon, Missouri; Rayong, Thailand and Sidney, Ohio were the top vote-getters in a hotly contested global Facebook promotion that saw nearly 135,000 total votes and more than 1,100 comments. The contest was part of Emerson’s celebration of its 100 millionth Copeland Scroll™ compressor milestone, designed to celebrate compressor technology and the people who make them.
Each winning facility will make a donation to a local HVACR training school or program. Donations from Lebanon will go to Ozarks Technical Community College; donations from Rayong will go to Bann Pluakdaeng School and donations from Sidney will go to Upper Valley Career Center HVACR Program.
“This contest surpassed all of our expectations and really drew together our employees, our communities and the local HVACR programs we support,” said Cathy Billing, marketing manager for Emerson Climate Technologies. “All of the compressors are wonderful works of art that we are proud to display around the world.” Each of the eight Copeland Scroll compressor manufacturing facilities around the world turned one of their units into art by painting a compressor with a unique design reflecting the plant and local community. Plant employees and local artists from Sidney, Ohio; Lebanon, Missouri; Natchitoches, Louisiana; Suzhou, China; Rayong, Thailand; Cookstown, Northern Ireland; Reynosa, Mexico and Welkenraedt, Belgium designed and painted each compressor. The painted Copeland Scroll compressors are travelling to Mechanical Systems Week, AHR Mexico, Chillventa, Emerson’s Wholesaler Conference, AHR Expo and China Refrigeration Expo in a display recognizing the 100 millionth scroll compressor milestone and the 25th anniversary of scroll production. Emerson ushered in a new phase of energy efficiency for the HVACR industry 25 years ago with the launch of Copeland Scroll technology in 1987. By 1992, the company had produced one million Copeland Scroll compressors. Today, Emerson manufactures Copeland Scroll compressors in eight facilities on three continents. Copeland Scroll compressors are used by all the major OEM air conditioning and refrigeration system providers in the U.S. as well as many others globally.
